Teton Valley RV resort (the place we stayed while visiting the Yellowstone/Tetons parks) is in a small town called Victor, in Idaho.
We made fun of the fact that there was just one street and that was Main St. The place looked dead, until Thursday evening. As we drove back from Yellowstone, around 4:30 pm, we saw the whole one mile of main street packed with cars and people milling around. Apparently, every thursday, in the summer months, Victor plays host to an outdoor concert, which visitors from as far away as Jackson (22 miles to be precise) attend. Needless to say, we could hear the music till late into the night - much to John's disgust.
Victor had another surprise in store for us. The day before we were to leave the place, I developed a one day "flu" (for want of a better term). I had the chills, the aches, and ran a temperature. I sent John off to Victor Market (a small what appeared to be a hole in the wall place) for some yogurt. He came back with two bags of "stuff" and so thrilled with his discovery. The place was stocked with gourmet groceries. Serves us right for being so snooty and for not checkint it out earlier in our visit.
Driggs is a town about 8 miles north of Victor, and on the road to Yellowstone western entrance. It has a population of 1100, and 3 Thai restaurants!! We could not believe that. Had lunch at one of them and the food was very good. Seemed quite popular with the locals too. Driggs also has a Broulins, a fairly good sized grocery store, along the lines of Harris Teeter in North Carolina.
So, all in all, we were pleasantly surprised with Victor and Driggs.
